Annie's Sweet Sweaters and Jackets
are hand-spun-dyed-woven-knit-manipulated-pieced from wool blended with silk, alpaca, angora, mohair, nylon, metallics, hemp, or linen. I get my raw fiber from covered corredale sheep at Whitefish Bay Farm in Wisconsin, and I use commercially prepared blue faced leicester top.
Handspun yarn is almost as lively as when the sheep wore it. The fibers have been subjected only to a swim in the dye pot, a pass or two through the carder, then on to the spinning wheel. I spin a firm single from quality fiber. Garments made of handspun are durable, warm, and easy to wear. I give thanks to the sheep, many of whom I know by name—Sophie, Oliver, Handsome—for their seasonal generosity.
The jackets have a center-back ease-pleat and slight swing cut, in-seam pockets, hand-dyed silk lined bodice and silk finished interior seams.
